Let's build communities that people are proud to say they're from. Let's build jobs that people turn into careers, working 10+ years building generational wealth in the process. And let's provide homes that use the building code as the bare minimum, setting the new standard of Community housing. Let's build a better neighborhoods across America and call it the Initiative, a program that builds sustainable and beautifully different communities.

Founded in 2016 by D'Andre Bowers its inaugural Board Chairman and Pierson "Butch" Butcher Jr, its then Executive Director as "The Warren Neighborhood Initiative" located in Warren, Ohio as a Blight control community organization.

The Neighborhood Initiative quickly grew its recognition after launching the "Neighborhood Pride Week" in 2016, which included 5 days of community clean ups within a targeted area of the city that grew national attention. Shortly into 2018, then Executive Director, D'Andre Bowers, launched "The Cleveland Neighborhood Initiative or CNI", the first satellite office for the neighborhood initiative program under the direction of then CNI Executive Director, Draye Luton and his Deputy, Nathan Gibian. Their primary mission was to develop mostly underdeveloped areas of East Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. Their success was highlighted by their consistent community engagement and partnerships with other CDC's to aid in their efforts.

In 2019, the Board of Directors for the then "Warren Neighborhood Initiative" voted unanimously to change the organizations name to "The National Neighborhood Initiative" mostly from the efforts of Board Chair, D'Andre Bowers and his vision to create a larger more national based organization.

By 2020, the Neighborhood Initiative program has raised over seven figures of income and maintained a large staff of compensated employees. Then Board Vice-Chairman, Dr. Gerald Morgan, proposed for the Neighborhood Initiative program to start and providing sustainable jobs to professionals with graduate level education and provide financial literacy programs in low-to-moderate communities with need for financial services.
